Managing Portfolio Director: John Busby
John Busby spent the past 15 years as CEO of Miller Compressing Company, a closely held Scrap Metal Recycling and Metal Trading Company, headquartered in Wisconsin. Miller Compressing sold in 2012 after 127 years of continuous family ownership. Prior to Miller, John was; a Partner in Lubar & Company, a family owned, Milwaukee based Private Equity firm, Private Equity Investor for his own account, CEO of Fleishman-Kurth, a division of Archer Daniels Midland, CEO/Owner of Kurth Malting a privately held Milwaukee based food ingredient company, and Senior Business Analyst with Baxter International. John has extensive experience in acquisitions, mergers, venture capital investments and successful operating and selling businesses. John graduated from Valparaiso University (BS), DePaul University (MBA) and has served on various private, public and charitable Boards.
Portfolio Director: Eric Lorenz
Eric is an accomplished business leader having spent the last 25 years in Executive management positions including CFO, EVP and President with a variety of B2B and B2C companies. Starting his career at PwC, Lorenz went on to server in leadership roles at three manufacturing companies each of which were owned in part by national Private Equity Firms. These experiences prepared Lorenz for his most recent, role as President of Dr. Comfort, the world’s leading diabetic shoe company based in Mequon. Under Eric’s leadership, sales grew both domestically and internationally from $10M to $75M. In 2011, he led the internal and external negotiation effort resulting in the successful sale of Dr. Comfort to a strategic buyer at an exit price exceeding $250M. Eric spent the following year after the transaction ensuring the successful integration of DrC into the buyer’s business structure and taking on the role of SVP of the Vascular Group prior to his retirement from the company in 2012. Mr. Lorenz currently provides consulting and advisory services to entrepreneurs and C-Suite executives and serves as Portfolio Director assessing early stage companies for the Wisconsin Super Angel Fund. Eric lives in Mequon with his wife, Lori. Together, they have 3 grown children.
